Looks like the Spec's will be playing Uncommon Grounds weekly until... who knows? Anyway we started last Friday, and played a show tonight (which went pretty well Antennae's Wife none-withstanding) and we will be playing at 9pm every Friday from here until some as-yet unforseeable time in the future.
However, we won't
be playing on the 23rd (Friday after next from this post) because a christian band will be playing and bringing in all their friends. So we may go to it to watch, but it looks like our energy for that night will be potential rather than kinetic.
Lastly, we *are* working on an EP/Demo/LP/Cd/whatever, we will be attempting to work with my friend and coworker Dave Gouldin on getting something together. I don't know if we'll have the backing tracks or not, we might just record our newer stuff sans percussion and go with that. Thoughts? Current Mood: EP no nazo!

Well it looks like Justin and I are going to be regulars over at Uncommon Grounds in Denton. We'll probably scan a map or at least give some detailed directions...
Next week we'll be playing there on Friday. The next day we'll be playing in Soda Springs near Millsap. This is extremely out of the way for most people who know about us, but it means free food and some other kinds of fun. If anyone's interested (syntheticjesso
has already expressed an interest) Justin and I will meet folks in Weatherford to follow us out to Millsap. That will probably be more like "hang out with the band and watch them play for an hour" rather than "a show". Anyway, drop us a line if you're interested!

We have a new song on our website, the first of our Suggest-a-Song songs. It's called "3.1415", and as you may have guessed, it's about Pi. Get it
while it's still warm!

Well we, The Specifics, have decided that we have way too much spare time on our hands. In an effort to sharpen our ability to write songs spontaneously, we have decided to do the exact opposite of Songfight
. On our website, instead of providing you with a title to turn into a song, we're having you provide us with a title for which we will make a song. We're keeping the one-week thing going, however, again in an effort to kill ourselves. So here's what you do! Just e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your title or list of titles. The one we like will be written that week, and if there are a bunch of other good ones, we'll use those as well. Though there's no huge cash prize or car to win if your title is the best, you can always brag to your mom that you were instrumental in creating a The Specifics' song.
One last thing, as the primary song-writer I have to tell you that I don't like to use cuss words or obvious sexual reference in the text of my songs, so any suggestions that contain either of the two will be pretty much not used. Go ahead and suggest them anyway, because I need a good laugh. Ok, get to rock-titling! Current Mood: in-your-face

The Specifics' website is now up! http://www.thespecifics.com
Pretty much all of the relevant information about the band is going to go there, but we'll see if we can't find a good use for this live journal community.
My idea is to set this up for people who don't like message boards but don't have a problem with LJ communities for their communication/direct feedback needs. Do such people exist?

Welcome to the online diary of The Specifcs. I'm Chris, the lead singer and lead guitarist (two inflated egos in one!). I hope everyone has a really super time here. Please add this to your friends list (and have your friends add it to their lists!) if you would like to know when we'll be playing, who we'll be playing with, where we'll be playing, and how to get there.
Pretty soon we're going to be working on a website of our own with all the flashy graphics and sound that a respectable band should have. Since this site doesn't exist yet, we'll be using this thing to at least get the word out about our shows.
Stay tuned for further comments from myself, or any of the other members of the band. Cheers!
